Q: Are your instructors DVSA approved?

Yes. All Speedi Driving School instructors are fully qualified DVSA-approved Approved Driving Instructors (ADIs). They are registered on the DVSA's official ADI register and undergo regular standards checks.

Q: Do you have female driving instructors?

Yes. We have female ADIs available, including Somali and Swahili-speaking instructors. If you would prefer a female instructor or need lessons in a specific language, please let us know when you call and we will match you accordingly.

Q: Can I hire a car for my driving test?

Yes. We offer car hire for your practical driving test. This includes the use of one of our dual-controlled vehicles on test day, plus a pre-test lesson on the morning of your test to warm up and familiarise yourself with the test routes.

Speedi Driving School was established in Harrow in 1999 and has been one of North West London's most trusted driving schools ever since. Originally operating as 'A Test Driving School', we built a strong reputation for patient, professional driving instruction and consistently high pass rates — and that reputation has only grown over the past 25 years.

What do I need to start driving lessons in the UK?

To start driving lessons in the UK, you must be at least 17 years old and hold a valid UK provisional driving licence. You can apply for your provisional licence through the DVLA online at gov.uk. You do not need to pass your theory test before starting practical lessons — but you must pass the theory test before you can book your practical driving test.

How many lessons will I need before my test?

The DVSA estimates the average learner needs around 45 hours of professional instruction before their practical test. However, this varies between individuals. At Speedi, we assess your ability from your very first lesson and build a personalised plan to get you test-ready as efficiently as possible — whether that takes 20 lessons or 50.

Do you offer automatic driving lessons?

Yes. We offer both manual and automatic driving lessons across all four of our locations — Harrow, Wembley, NW9 and NW10. Automatic lessons are popular with nervous drivers or those who want to focus entirely on road awareness without managing gears.

Do you offer intensive driving courses?

Yes. Our intensive courses are designed to get you test-ready in days or weeks depending on your starting level. They're ideal if you have a test date already booked or need to pass urgently for work or personal reasons. Call us to discuss the best intensive course option for your situation.
